Carrie and the kids… in my yard!

So many of you know that we moved, but did you know how beautiful the yard is?  There are trees, and rocks, and grass, and lots of places to play.  In the spring my friend Carrie Peterson was ready to get pictures taken with her kids, and so we tried out the yard.  I think they are beautiful images!!!  It’s really fun to shoot in every angle, thanks Carrie for being the first!

Bradford’s 2022

For the first 17 years of our married life we lived in the same home in East Layton.  One of the families that we became friends with when we moved in was the Bradfords.  She became the ward choir pianist when I was the director, and is so talented we sang pieces she wrote.  My oldest was born just a months after her youngest so it was fun to have kids close in age.  Since they moved we she became my Mary Kay lady (to make sure I see her every so often,) and we even went to Garth Brooks together a couple months ago.  Such wonderful people, and so photogenic!!  We are so grateful they are our friends!

Here’s My Family

So every year I think I’m going to get someone else to photograph my family…  would be less stress, and less preparation. I would only have to focus on the clothing, which as you all know can be stressful enough!!  But here we are, another year, and here is my family… photography by me!!  I am so grateful for my beautiful mama who stood by to make sure all eyes are on the camera, and with dog treats ready in hand!  She also happen to dress perfectly in our colors so we could have her in a few images.  We love you Grandma Bonnie!:)

An Afternoon with the Christensens

I was able to go out with the Christensen family last Friday.  I’ve known Shaundeen for years.  We used to exercise together when our kids were really small and ran their scooters around us in the gym of the church.   We served in the Primary at church together were able to watch our kids begin to form their testimonies of our Savior.  It was so fun to go out with them and capture gorgeous images of their beautiful children at this time in their lives.  They are so talented, so smart, and so kind.   Devon and Shaundeen you have a wonderful family!  Thank you for sharing the afternoon with me!

A Beautiful Night at the Park

You know when you meet people, and it’s like you’ve known them forever, and then all of the sudden what you are doing is over you realize you really just met them and you might not see them for a long time…  That’s what it was like the other day when I met Adam and Cindy Buck.  Such a great family!!  Adam used to work at the same law firm as my brother-in-law Paul Shakespeare, and got my information from Paul.  Now I’m best friends with the Bucks and all of their children!:)

It was so much fun to take their images last Friday, and now I know of another park that is really close that didn’t have a lot of people!  It was amazing for a Friday night we had the park to ourselves!

Adam and Cindy you have such a beautiful family, and such wonderful kids!  I hope that these images help to capture them now so that you might be able to remember these moments always!!

So wonderful to spend the evening with you Buck family!  I hope you love your images and that we can do it again soon!

Braden’s Graduating!! How could that be?!

So in 1989 my family moved from Tucson, Arizona to Clearfield, Utah.  Right next door was a girl my age and we became instant friends.  I remember Carrie and I watching Jazz games together, scary movies (like The Changling! Ahhh!), cartoons like Animaniacs,  sewing the same pants, going to district science fairs together, high school dances, choir concerts, weddings, game nights… we’ve been in each other’s lives forever.  She’s one of my very best friends.  Still we are there for each other.  We always get together at the beginning of the year for our birthday celebration at Zupas, lately we’ve been having a summer BBQ on the lake with tubes and paddleboards, at Christmastime Carrie hosts our annual Fondue dinner and dessert. We’ve had wonderful times.

I’ve also been able to watch her 4 beautiful children grow up.  Braden’s one of the oldest of my friend’s kids.  He was born more then 6 years before my oldest so I’ve looked at him, and the way Carrie and Jared have raised him, as an example for my kids.  I’ve been able to watch a small boy who would color all over basement walls with permanent marker and worried his parents to pieces in elementary school to a young man ready to graduate from high school and go on a mission.  He is such a fun, loving, respectful young man.  Carrie and Jared you have such a remarkable boy!  You’ve done such a great job!  Thank you for letting me take his portraits today.  I think he loved it!! lol  I love you Both!

Because they love their Grandpa

After a couple years I was able to take the Schroeder’s portraits again!   Grandpa was in town and they wanted a special extended family portrait as a gift for him.  We met at Kays Creek Parkway and walked up the path to the area on the very north end where I usually like to take portraits.  The path was closed… but we went there anyway!;)  (We’ll do anything for good photographs!!)  Well we braved the construction, and the mosquitos (and there were a lot) but the portraits are gorgeous!  Salina, thanks so much for having me!  I hope we can do it again really soon!!

Amanda and Trevin

What an amazing night for Amanda and Trevin! They were married in the backyard of beautiful home in east Layton overlooking all of Layton.  The weather was amazing, the bride was perfect, and the food was delicious… and fun thanks to it coming from a food truck!:)  Thank you so much Amanda and Tamika for inviting me to such a wonderful event!  I’m so glad I was able to capture it all!

Headshots

So about 3 o’clock this afternoon I got a call while I was standing in my husband’s favorite fountain pen shop, in his favorite mall (Trolley Square.) We had just gone out for a lunch together, and were taking a little time before he had to get back.  The lovely mother on the phone I answered needed headshots for her kids.  She was hoping around 4.  I told her I was certain it would be fine and I’d call her back as soon as I got back home because I didn’t have my planner.  She sounded confused, but said OK and we hung up.  A second later I looked at my watch, it was now after three and I realized why she was so confused! lol.  I had an hour to get my husband back to work, get through traffic from Salt Lake, (which doesn’t seem to ever be clear anymore.)  I still had to grab my gear, get to the park, and set-up for the photo session!  By 4:30 we were done and by 6 they were all printed and going off to the judges for their auditions!  Such fun beautiful, talented kids.  I’m so grateful it was as clear as it was today so I could meet them!  So excited to meet the rest of your famliy very soon! !

Memory Lane

A couple weeks ago I went down to Murray Park in Salt Lake City and photographed the extended family of one of my dearest friends, Carrie Jensen Sawyer.  I love the Sawyers! … and the Jensen’s! and the Clarke’s! and the rest of the gang!  We grew up next to each other, played together, went to church activities together, and went to dates together.  However it’s been awhile since I’ve seen the whole family… and all of their beautiful kids!  I was so excited I was invited to come and photograph such an amazing family!  Thank you so much!  So good to see you all!
