Carrie and the kids… in my yard!

So many of you know that we moved, but did you know how beautiful the yard is?  There are trees, and rocks, and grass, and lots of places to play.  In the spring my friend Carrie Peterson was ready to get pictures taken with her kids, and so we tried out the yard.  I think they are beautiful images!!!  It’s really fun to shoot in every angle, thanks Carrie for being the first!

Bradford’s 2022

For the first 17 years of our married life we lived in the same home in East Layton.  One of the families that we became friends with when we moved in was the Bradfords.  She became the ward choir pianist when I was the director, and is so talented we sang pieces she wrote.  My oldest was born just a months after her youngest so it was fun to have kids close in age.  Since they moved we she became my Mary Kay lady (to make sure I see her every so often,) and we even went to Garth Brooks together a couple months ago.  Such wonderful people, and so photogenic!!  We are so grateful they are our friends!

Inside, Where it’s Nice and Warm

A week ago I went to take photographs of an extended family all gathered together for Grandpa Dick’s birthday…. But it was sooo cold!  Like my phone said “feels like 18 degrees” COLD.  So inside we went!  Moved everything we could so all of the family would fit by the couch, and the photographs are gorgeous!  Such a wonderful family!  Sandy, Kent, Dick, Amber, Dayne, and family, thank you so much.  I hope we can do it again really soon!!  (Perhaps on a slightly warmer day;)

A Beautiful Night at the Park

You know when you meet people, and it’s like you’ve known them forever, and then all of the sudden what you are doing is over you realize you really just met them and you might not see them for a long time…  That’s what it was like the other day when I met Adam and Cindy Buck.  Such a great family!!  Adam used to work at the same law firm as my brother-in-law Paul Shakespeare, and got my information from Paul.  Now I’m best friends with the Bucks and all of their children!:)

It was so much fun to take their images last Friday, and now I know of another park that is really close that didn’t have a lot of people!  It was amazing for a Friday night we had the park to ourselves!

Adam and Cindy you have such a beautiful family, and such wonderful kids!  I hope that these images help to capture them now so that you might be able to remember these moments always!!

So wonderful to spend the evening with you Buck family!  I hope you love your images and that we can do it again soon!

Thomsons… Bribery… Weeds… and… Moana!

I had the privileged of photographing the Thomson’s again this year… so fun!!  We went to Kays Creek Parkway, which is packed with photographers this time of year, but we were able to get some beautiful images and have a great time doing it!  (Well we might have gone 15 minutes too long for dad, lol:)  It was a fun filled night of pulling weeds out of the way, bribing kids with fruit snacks, more pulling weeds out of the way, bribing with graham crackers… there might have been some more pulling weeds out of the way… then a bit of a puppet show… and even some viewing of the movie Moana!  It was so worth it!  We made fun memories and beautiful images!  Can’t wait until next time!  Thanks for the fun night Thomson family!  PS next time I’ll remember scissors to help with getting the weeds out of the way!:)

Just around the river bend… with the Bowlers!

Years ago I met a little man in nursery at church.  His dad had to stay with him often because he had a hard time adjusting, like most 18 month little ones do.  One day I brought out the letter mats that locked together like puzzle pieces, and made them into a trail. He watched what I was doing pretty intently, and then smiled and laughed as I started skipping along them.  After that my little friend Cameron was hooked.  He followed right behind me (because it was so fun of course;) and he had a great time in nursery everyday after… well, mostly from what I remember;)!

I love this Bowler family!  We’ve taken Cameron’s pictures, maternity pictures, Lincoln’s baby pictures, and more studio family pictures.  Now Cameron is 4 and Lincoln is 1 year old!  I really am in denial about it, but it was time for family pictures again!  I hunted for an awesome place to take pictures in early spring and Brittany loved the path below Nichol’s park in Kaysville.  I’ve shot there before in the summer and in the fall, but never the spring… and never with a river.  It is all dried up by the summer.  So fun to be able to get some beautiful environmental portraits of the awesome family with the winding river!  I’ve loved photographing you guys.  Can’t wait to do it again!

The Whole England Clan

So for the past couple of weeks I’ve gone out with my family on multiple occasions trying to find the perfect location for the extended family of a dear sweet friend of mine, Alison England… and one evening we found it!!  Beautiful colors, grasses, trees, and especially, mountains!!  What a beautiful place to spend a lovely afternoon taking photographs a wonderful people.  And Wow!! KAYLA

I had fun creating headshots for my Thespian friend Kayla, last Wednesday. There are so many words that describe this sweet girl, that I really couldn’t pick one.  Charismatic, talented, kind, caring, smart, selfless, musical, theatrical, beautiful… so many more.  I’ve known her many years, and have taught her voice lessons and piano lessons for 4 of those years… she is just amazing.  She’s fun to teach, and so willing to learn and to practice, and she has a great desire to succeed.  Her mom teases that she might want to be like me when she grows up; sings, plays the piano, loves theater, just started playing the cello…  The funny thing is if I had a daughter I would hope that she was a little bit like Mackayla Thorne.  Beautiful inside and out.

Sara Arrington FNP

Last week a good friend, and neighbor of mine, said that her sister needed some new headshots.  Sara Arrington is opening Heart and Soul Family medicine on April 5th, so we got out and photographed her right away.  I’d never met Sara before but after a couple hours of being with her I feel like we’re already good friends.  She was kind, gentle with my kids, and you can really tell she cares about you.  I wish her the best in her new family practice!!  Hope we get to do it about really soon!
